    Hi,

Yes your ESA will have to change over to UC based on previous forum posts. It could take up to a year to receive the migration letter. Please try not to worry about it in the meantime.

PIP is a completely separate benefit. That does not change to Universal Credit.

A lot of us are confused by this move i was fine on ESA support group now i have to bother my Dr again for sick notes its a waste of there time i got one but the point is i was on ESA support group for over 10 years without needing these its wasting valuable time for Dr and with the move to UC we are all having to prove ourselfs not fit for work again. The DWP should already know our circumstances instead of asking all sorts of questions again. The fact is we were already on there system now we need to prove our ID again as well. This has not gone down well with many people who believed life would be better under Labour after the misery of the torys it seems nothing has changed and those on benefits are still targets of the goverment and blamed for there illness and disability in the most cruel and unfair ways many will be worse of and the stress and despair many feel will go unoticed by those in charge of these decisions😒

    Hi @Bev12345

Understanding the different benefits and how it affects you can be so confusing don't worry. If you are still struggling with getting your head around it you can always give the Scope helpline a call.

The number is 0808 800 3333 and you can talk to one of our lovely advisers who are know all about that stuff.

Hope that helps and hope it all works out for you 😊

That's isn't quite true. There was absolutely no need for you to get a fit note as advised on your own thread. People migrating from ESA Support Group automatically get put in the LCWRA group of UC. There is no need to provide fit notes and there is no need for another work capability assessment.

I was told to get a Drs note bye the DWP on the phone it was also needed for ID as i struggled to find what they needed. The automatic thing i was not sure about as i said i was confused by the whole thing so im glad to have come on here to get a few things cleared up.Im glad of the help and advice given on the forums on scope because like many a move onto a different benefit can be a worrying time for many of us.

Millions of people have not either. Many people will not be contacted until next year.

The system might ask for one, but as you are migrating from ESA the answer is no you don't need one.

Once you've claimed UC, add a Journal note (UC online account) stating you are migrating from Support Group ESA.

ESA will send your details to UC, but this can take a few weeks.
