Hi Sandy.I'm after some advice please.

I've been in receipt of ESA in the support group for well over the last 10 yrs.In March 2018 I applied for Pip and was awarded Daily living standard rate and mobility standard rate and have been entitled to this rate ever since. My last award for this runs out in 2028.I recently learned about severe disability premium.I phoned DWP on monday Just gone and today I received a notification letter stating that My money will go up as from 8th November an extra £81 a week which I'm so grateful for. However I've also read that I maybe entitled to backdated payment of this award from 2016.There's no mention though of any backdated payment in the award letter.Should I have received it or have I misunderstood.?.

    Many Thanks in advance.:)

You will need to ask for it to be backdated to the date of your PIP decision (March 2018). This isn't done automatically.

Thank you so much for your reply.I really do appreciate it.:). Should I ask therefore for a mandatory reconsideration?.

Yes, you can ask for a MR on the grounds SDP hasn't been backdated to the PIP award date.

Hey @AnjieJay, welcome to the community 😊 I hope you're doing well today! A lot of people indeed don't know about what else they can be eligible for when they get PIP. The DWP certainly don't tell people unless you check the gov.uk website!

I see you've already had your question answered but I'll just move this over to our ESA section incase you do have any other questions, or your MR doesn't succeed so you'd like to come back and ask about the next step which would be a possible tribunal.
