How soon will my child element stop?
Hello, Hoping someone can help. I have a 18 year old daughter at College Full time. Should be staying there till July 2024. However she hates it and wants to leave. I get child element off UC and a top up as im on low wages and single mum. My question is how soon will my money stop if she stops within the next couple wks.
I have been trying to look at info but bit conflicting it says I will loose everything which is a bit confusing as theres another element there which i thought I was getting because of low earnings.
Also will my monthly Family allowance stop if shes not in full time education.

Universal Credit (UC) does not make part-payments. Therefore, as soon as you report your daughter leaving full-time education, the child element for her will stop, and you will no longer receive any further payments for it, even if she leaves just three weeks into an assessment period.
The reason your UC may stop entirely is that you will be currently receiving a work allowance, which is an amount you can earn before UC starts making deductions from your wages and without this your wages may wipe out your award entirely. Without knowing your full circumstances, it is impossible for me to say whether you would still be entitled to this or any other UC. However, a benefit calculator should give you some indication.

Family allowance? This no longer exists and I’m certain you mean child benefit. Yes, you will also need to report the changes to HMRC and this will also stop.

Thankyou to you both.
