Appointeeship for my son on UC
hi
I’m looking for advice as 18 months ago I became my sons appointee and deal with UC and PIP.
Today I received a call from jobcentre informing me that on my sons Universal Account I am not officially marked as his appointee .
I explained the DWP officer had been out for home visit and I have the paper work and I am my sons go to contact for his PIp and it all gets sent to me .
They acknowledged that but said I had not been marked officially on his universal credit account and they have asked me to bring 3 pieces of ID n ..
is this the correct procedure as it seems a bit strange request to me after 18 months of being his Appointeeship . Anyone had similar issue

Were you his appointee for PIP before the UC claim?
If so, you have to go through the process of becoming an appointee for his UC, even though you are already his appointee for PIP.

from what I can remember I became his appointee when he started on UC .. he previously was on PIP .
Is it a normal request to ask me to take ID to job centre

Hi @LainieD, it's quite normal for the DWP to request ID to verify things, but I'm not sure why they don't have you on the system as his appointee already after 18 months, that sounds a bit strange!
Perhaps if you have any paper records or letters it might be worth taking those with you when you have your ID checked in case they need them. Hopefully it'll all be fairly straightforward and you can continue on as normal.
