PIP awarded but 5days later I receive in post a health assessment via phonecall weeks away
Hi, PIP sent me a text 5days ago saying I was awarded PIP but today I receive in the post a health assessment via phonecall weeks away. What does this mean will I still get my payment soon or will it not be decided until after the phonecall on the 28th Nov?
I've been a nervous wreck for months and this has consumed everything I have whilst trying to deal with the new life I have to live so getting that text on Friday saying I was awarded PIP was a huge relief but now I feel like I'm back at step 1 and my mental health is just getting worse by the hour. I'm just confused why they would say I've been awarded it and to expect a letter within 2weeks etc saying how much and when ill be paid etc but now they want me to wait another 2weeks for a phonecall with a health advisor/professional/doctor/nurse.
I've never claimed benefits in my life but sadly due to recent events in my life have made it so I cant work for a year or two until my condition is under control.
Thanks in advance

Hi @keyod710, sorry to hear this has happened to you, that sounds really confusing. Admin errors do happen occasionally so it could be that one of the messages was sent by accident.
If you're feeling up to it, maybe you could give the PIP helpline a ring? Hopefully they can tell you whether you've been awarded PIP or not and let you know what to do about the potential assessment.
Contact the Disability Service Centre - GOV.UK
Fingers crossed you can find out what's happened and get it all sorted soon ๐

See this is just news I didn't need.. I'll try phone them now but im going to loose my BEEP if the sms was a accident and not the letter

It says my next payment is the 12th December so I assume I've got it and due to get my back payment any day as I received the PIP award sms on friday?

Yes, if you've been given a date for your first payment then it should be fairly safe to assume that the letter about the assessment has been sent out by mistake ๐

That's perfect, I really hope so as I struggle still opening up to my doctor never mind a random stranger on a phone call ๐ฅ

I'm not sure what's going on but they are messing me about and cant take it anymore so I'm just going to close my claim down and call it quits. Peace out all

hi I recieved a call yesterday from pip they asked about being in prison or care home been abroad also asked if my bank details were same but they said no decision made what does this mean

Have you rang PIP to ask if you've definitely been awarded? if you haven't then I'd advise you to do that. If you already have a PIP award in place you can't just end that claim or close it.

I can only guess what it means but there's been members here that have been asked this question and gone onto be awarded BUT there's also been members that have had the questions and gone onto be refused. All you can do is wait for the decision to be made.

Turns out the message was about universal credit but with it being sent via the DWP SMS I thought it was about PIP.
My PIP has been awarded ๐

Wahey! Congratulations on the PIP awards @keyod710 and @glitterbabe !
I'd try not to worry too much @glitterbabe the only issue with audits is things take a bit more time, but it'll all still be backpaid, so you wont be losing out on any money. ๐

Its nice but its nothing to be proud of, I've worked my whole life never claimed a day benefit in my life until now because of a seizure disorder which started after a traumatic event ๐ฅ
