Uc payments
hi, I’m having a bit of confusion about my U. I noticed there was a big payment gap in my rent account with onward homes. A payment was made by UC on the 26th August tin the next payment they made was 21st October. My UC payment date is 21st of each month. I challenged UC on this and they said all payments had been sent. I spoke to onward and they said this is correct. But although my rent was taken out of my money on the 21st September there was no money sent for that month. Because I am paid 12 times a year on UC wich is every 4 weeks equalling 48 weeks and my rent is charged weekly wich equals 52 weeks does that mean I am supposed to pay the extra 4 weeks myself? I’m so confused how they can miss a payment and they claim that is correct. Thank you in advance.

There are two points to address here:
Firstly, there are 53 Mondays this year, which means that many social housing tenants are finding themselves one week behind with their rent. Universal Credit (UC) is paid monthly, not every four weeks, and your UC housing element is calculated by multiplying your weekly rent by 52, then dividing the total by 12. This still leaves the problem of the 'extra' week's rent.
Secondly, the missing payment does not seem correct. It is not connected to the issue of weekly versus monthly payments. You will need to contact UC for confirmation that the payment was made to your housing provider, and then resolve the issue directly with them. It is not possible for us to know where the fault lies.
