LCWRA. BACK PAY

hi,
Today I received back pay of £1294 due to I assume going from ESA to LCWRA. Obviously it’s a nice lump sum which will enable us to put additional money on gas/ electric. Enjoy a few luxury items At Christmas and pay off the small amounts debt we have.
however, I don’t want to touch this money until I know I can, I won’t lie it’s a godsend at this time of year, but I believe UC will be taking back some if not all of it. I’ve asked that question in my journal, but I don’t understand why the system doesn’t just take the money it’s due, instead of paying you and dangling the temptation like a golden carrot to languish in your account when your at home rationing your food, heating, fuel, and water. What would you do???

Benefit backpayments are disregarded from your capital for one year 😊
UC can't touch it until that year is up, and only then if your capital is over £6000 at that point.
