I have been offered Radiofrequency ablation on my lower back I wondered if anyone had had experience of this and was it worth it?

    Hello @RoyA

Could I ask if the radio frequency ablation has been suggested due to some form of complication involving the nerves in your back?

If so, have you tried nerve block injections or epidural steroid injections?

I don't have any experience of the radio frequency ablation you refer to but have tried the injections.

Unfortunately these did not work for me though others I have spoken to have had very good results from them.

After a failed microdisectomy, my next option is a spinal cord stimulator or to continue with medication and physiotherapy.

Thank you for your response, Yes I had surgery when they looked inside to hopefully make more room for the cord they found the sheath had fused to the blown discs and so were unable to complete the planned surgery. I have had the pain block injections and they did work to an extent the sharp pain was dulled but standing for more than 5 minutes or bending forward to wash up the pain returns but it is duller. Radio Frequency ablation is burning the nerve ending with radio waves and is supposed to last longer than the injections but it is a more painful procedure It can not be a frequently used procedure as no one on here seems to have heard of it.
