Hi I've been awarded limited capability to work had a letter to say I'll be getting £404 from June onwards but nothing is showing on my next statement about this payment?

The £404/month is the work allowance, which will only apply if you or a partner are working and receiving earnings. If not, then it's irrelevant anyway.

You will only receive extra money each month if you were found to have Limited Capability For Work Related Activity. (LCWRA)

If the decision was just Limited capability for Work there's no extra money.

Please check the decision letter to see exactly what it is.

If it is LCWRA what date exactly did you provided your first fit note? and what date do you usually receive your money each month?

LCW itself doesn't pay any additional extra money.

I'm assuming you claim jointly with a working partner - the work allowance now means the first £404 of earnings are ignored before UC apply deductions to their wages.

    It's not a separate £404 payment.

No I'm single..i lost my job of 8 years back in June..I'm just confused why the letter would say that but I won't be getting any extra?

This will be because you weren't entitled to the work allowance before the decision was made on your work capability assessment. As you were receiving earnings then you'll now be entitled to that. The work allowance is an amount of earnings you can receive each month before deductions apply. This means they owed you some money from that.

I can also see that the decision was LCW and not LCWRA so unfortunately there's no extra money each month. Therefore, going forward your UC payments will remain the same as they were before the decision was made.

If you disagree with the WCA decision you can challenge it by requesting the Mandatory Reconsideration.

Ah okay, they must have applied the work allowance to your earnings in May/June & June/July assessment periods, does that make more sense with your timeline?

The letter says you are entitled to the work allowance of £404 due to your LCW award.

This is why you got the backpay mentioned.

The work allowance means the first £404 in wages are ignored before the 55p in each earned £1 deduction applies. Whereas before your LCW, nothing was ignored and the deduction began straight away.

As you are no longer working then that no longer applies to your payment.

LCW itself doesn't pay any extra UC.
