Transition protection element
Few months ago migrated from Tax Credit to Universal Credit.
I receive Transition protection element, but not understand how Tax Credit office communicate with
Universal Credit office and how they decide my Tax Credit award for Transition protection element
calculation purposes.
Does Universal Credit office pass my income to Tax Credit office and they calculate possible Tax Credit award and send back information to Universal Credit office?
Or is there a different way how Tax Credit office communicate with Universal Credit office?
I’m not sure if Tax Credits office uses correct income for Tax Credits calculation.

HMRC send the information as to what you received from tax credits to UC. Once your initial UC statement is produced they check this against the information received from HMRC (or other DWP sources if your received other benefits) and calculate the difference.
Errors do occur and if you believe your TP amount to be incorrect, challenge it.

carers allowance is included in the tax credit income part - so when you do your mid year return ie , earnings & benefits , is this what UC use ?
