LCWRA has a waiting period of three full assessment periods, from the date the first Fit Note was handed in. No money is paid or subsequently owed for that period.

Backpay usually takes at least a few weeks to calculate and send to your bank.

A bit more information is needed to advise:

Were there any gaps in when you provided your Fit Notes?

What is your UC assessment period?

Hi Kimmy so I started claiming universal credit in 2022 started handing in sick notes from January 12th 2023 I had my first form in April they said they hadn't recieved it and sent another out they said they hadn't recieved it it went to a decision maker and I was advised to continue to hand in my sick notes till the decision maker reviewed my case they sent me a final form I filled it out they recieved it this was in September 2024 I had my phone call on Monday she said she had enough evidence based on the severity of my mental health and didn't have to go further with the call I recieved notice from uc journal today to check my journal and I was sent my acceptance letter via pdf. If that makes sense

Yes that makes sense, but I need your UC assessment period dates to work out how many months money you are owed.

Your assessment period is the dates each month they use to calculate your payment.

This information will be at the top of each payment statement.

So checked back in my journal I recieved my first payment of universal credit in 8th April 2020 but I was part time working as well during that point up until covid then had a spot of work then a few severe mental break downs which then kick started my having to hand in sick note in jan 2023

Thank you, I can estimate your Assessment Period dates by the payment date you've provided.

January/February 2023: *Partial AP not counted for waiting period*

    February/March: AP1

    March/April: AP2

    April/May: AP3

    May/June: Eligible for LCWRA element.

By my calculation 18 months LCWRA is owed.

If there isn't enough time for them to add it to your next statement & payment 8 December, they will owe an additional month.

    12 months at £390.06

    6 months at £416.19

Benefits backpay is excluded from counting towards your UC capital for 12 months.
