Hi , I hope you’re be able to advise me please.

I’m awaiting a capability assessment , and recently submitted bank statements etc as a review for UC . Apparently i have gone slightly over the lower limit of savings etc
UC have now sent me a letter stating that I did not declare this at the time .
I don’t check my accounts all the time So now I have to explain the reason why and how to correct my error !
This was a genuine mistake on my part which I have explained and stated I will pay back any money owed if overpaid.

However the address I have on the letter is a free post one so not entirely sure if I should send a formal letter there ?
I have already updated my journal with the reasons and asked for them to respond ref correct address

As yet I haven’t had a response so it’s stressing me out some what .

I could also face payment of a Civil fine of £50

Has anyone experienced this at all . I’m still trying to recover from injuries that I have sustained from work due to my job being to physical for me . I cannot return to my role .

I’m finding navigating UC challenging, supplying sick notes alongside numerous phone calls from my work coach.
I took a voluntary career break from work as I was too unwell to continue and I’m not any further along with my health. Waiting for various appointments, and coping with several issues at once

Any help would be appreciated

Thank you.

    Hi,

The £50 penalty charge is a standard fine for anyone that doesn't report changes quickly enough. UC may decide that your reason for the delay is acceptable and waive the fee, though no-one on here could tell you that will definitely happen.

The freepost address is the one they ask all mail to be sent to. However, this can get stuck in the postal system due to not having a postcode for the automated sorting machines. If you wish to send something requiring a signature, that can be sent to the address below:

    UCFS Post
    Canterbury BSC
    Nutwood House
    Chaucer Road
    Canterbury
    Kent
    CT1 1ZZ
