Anyone had trouble getting access to work through the employer? They are saying that this is over and above a reasonable adjustment and don't seem to feel it's essential.

Hey there @Triggered_Tigger179 and welcome to the community. 😊

I've used Access to Work for my current job and apart from the wait, I didnt have any issues. Can you tell us a bit more about the problems you're facing and we will do our best to support you.

Thanks for your reply. It's public sector, told me it takes a long time to process the request, and then they have no money to buy the things up front, even though they will be able to claim the money back. It's fully funded and the employer is a very large employer so shouldn't be that difficult for them. They are trying to say that this is over and above reasonable adjustment and doesn't count so I've not been able to get any of the specialised equipment I need to do my job.

It took about 7 months for them to get around to offering me some help. But the A2W grant offers a huge discount to the employer if you applied within (I think it's a year) since you started the job.

It may be worth contacting ACAS as they're the specialists on employment law and will be able to offer some more targeted advice.
