Hello,

I’ve just been awarded LCWRA. I am due to get my first payment on 10/01/25.

I handed my first sick note in on 13th August 2024, and then they started the referral for work capability.

When I get my first payment on 10th Jan, do they backdate the payments to when you put in your sick note? Or will I only just get the one single extra payment on the 10th? Meaning do the 3 assessment periods during the wait period not count towards your extra money?

TIA

You will get one single payment on the 10th.

LCWRA isn't paid at all during the waiting period. So after the waiting period, no backpay is owed.

The waiting period is three full UC assessment periods.

The AP that the first Fit Note is handed in doesn't count.

For OP their timeline looks like this:

August/September: Partial AP, excluded from waiting period.

    September/October : AP 1

    October/November: AP2

    November/December: AP 3

    December/January: Eligible for LCWRA element.

10th January: First LCWRA element paid.
