Hello everyone , I’m new to the Community but just thought it good to let you know a little bit about myself . I am the mother of a 20 year old son who has recently been diagnosed with ADHD and we are struggling with our GP practice who don’t have an onward referral pathway. He has other chronic lifelong health conditions (whilst he was able to claim DLA as a child, he was turnedPIP once he turned to age 16)

We are hopeful that he will now reach the threshold be able to claim PIP . Wondering if anyone has recent experience of applying for PIP where ADHD is an factor, significantand might be able to recommend best places ( websites etc) to get help and advice to fill in the forms.

many thanks

Hi @anguish101, welcome to the community. I don't have experience of this myself, but I'll pop your question into the title of your post so more members can find it.

We've got lots of members who have been through the PIP system and are very knowledgeable so I'm sure you'll get some good advice here if you need it. Feel free to ask any questions you like. We also have a section for Autism and Neurodiversity in case you'd like to have a browse there too: https://forum.scope.org.uk/categories/autism-and-neurodiversity

When it comes to the forms, some people find they benefit from seeing a benefits advisor. Advicelocal have a directory in case you'd like to see if there's anyone local to you. Citizens Advice are also a good place to start if you did want some extra help with it all.

I hope you'll find the community friendly and helpful 😊
