Advice on pip waiting process

hi all,

I have been waiting 24 weeks and counting, I’ve been told it’s with a case manager now.

It is more of a question if anyone has had the same waiting time, I’m thinking surely if the answer is no I would have known by now?

I just keep getting the same answer when I call “we have received all we need and it’s with a case manager”

Am I able to request a copy of my assessment?

Thanks in advance

Is this a review of an existing claim or a new claim?

First time claims can take several months, sometimes longer for a decision from the date you applied.

Reviews are taking considerably longer and some are waiting up to a year for a decision.

You can request the assessment report by ringing PIP to ask them to send you a copy. Please be aware that it’s not the decision, it’s a recommendation only. Whilst they mostly go with it, it has been known for them to go against it. Requesting the report very often causes a lot more needless anxiety, even if it’s in your favour.

Timescales for decisions once the report is returned is up to 12 weeks.

    hi Poppy!

    Thanks for your message back!

It is a new claim, it started on June 24th, I had my phone assessment on 16 September.

I have just spoken to PIP they have advised me the assesser has requested more evidence from my doctor? Which is absolutely fine with me, I just assumed by going by the guidelines of maximum 20 weeks from start to finish this would of been done by now.

    thanks

No problem. That timescale is just a guide. Delays can be caused by backlogs and each individual case. As they’ve requested information from your doctor, this maybe causing the delay.

the case manager I spoke to said he is reluctant to send me the report as it’s not the final decision, they are waiting on advice on my claim?

I have no idea what to take from that to be honest

I wouldn’t speculate anything from that at all. Sometimes some of them will refuse to send it and other times they will agree.
