UC post 16

Hi, I have just come across this site and hope that you can help out my mind at rest.

My son is in year 11, he has ASD/ADHD and dyslexia. He has an EHCP which covers his needs etc. I am also disabled, Multiple Sclerosis and do not work. I have recently migrated over to UC.

I am trying to plan ahead and get my heard around money. My son is very unlikely to go to college in September but an apprenticeship will suit him. It will be a waiting game as they don’t all start in September.

I would like to know what parts of UC I will loose if he does leave full time education? He recieves DLA which we will have to apply for PIP once he turns 16. I receive high rate PIP for both elements, contribution based ESA (was income based as well before moving over) I did receive tax credits as well and I get housing benefit. I don’t have any work related commitments as I can not work (I think that’s it)

Is there any way the loss of money can be worked out? My brain fog just does not allow me to comprehend this change.

Thank you so much in advance.

In this situation the following will end. Child benefit. Child element of UC (£333.33/month)

As well as disabled child element of UC, which is either £156.11/month or £487.58/month depending on what award of DLA he has.

You can look at your UC statements to see those elements and how much they are because it will give the amounts of each one.
