PIP Change in Law Social Support

Hi
I was in receipt of PIP daily living Standard rate, and about 12 or so months ago I had a phone call from PIP advising that my case had been reviewed and had been awarded some extra points. (due to the MM Supreme Court Ruling re Social Support)
They advised that I was to receive a lump sum of approximately £10'000.00, which landed in my bank account in March 2024. (I still have this)
What im not clear about is when the lump sum will affect my (IR) ESA. I can't work out if the MM judgement was an Error in Law, which I think means the lump sum won't affect my ESA until the end of my PIP award. Or is it only disregarded for 52 weeks?
I would really appreciate some clarification regarding this.
Thanks a million,
Daisy

Because the amount exceeds £5000, it is disregarded for the length of your award. And by length of award I think it actually means your ESA, not PIP.

In addition to that, when you migrate from IR ESA to UC, the disregard should continue.
Personally, I would put that money into a separate account so it's easy to keep out of future capital calculations.
