Scored 0 for dressing and undressing
Hi, I was awarded a score of 6 for daily living for PIP, I was given a score of 0 for dressing and undressing, but I did say I use an aid for putting on my socks! The decision on this was “ you have the ability to bend your legs to your chest to dress your lower limbs and put your trousers on….decided you can dress unaided!
I said that I can put trousers on unaided….but I did not say I could bend my legs to my chest….and that I need a aid to put socks on but was rewarded 0 points for this?

hi and welcome to the forum John I'm sorry for the late delay in our response in the community today.
I would recommend that you visit the coffee lounge for a friendly chat or the games den for some fun

Hi Jon1979 , how long did you wait on a reply for adult disability for a decision? I applyed in October whilst in hospital and still haven't had an up date. . I can't dress myself without the aid of a grabber ie litter picker lol .watch this space I'll get told the same about bending ... silly ain't it ..

Hi longTallSally66,
Not too long just 3 weeks from when I Applied, all depends if they need your doctors advice on your condition etc. Fingers crossed for you 🤞

When i did my pip tribunal i was pushing for unable to dress lower half, using an aid to put on compression leggings and needing assistance to dress lower, for some reason they gave me 4 points to dress top half because i can go unconscious when i lift my hands up. Wasn't going to argue but sometimes the descriptors can be odd

I’m finding it all a little bit stressful, i’ve been to see my local citizens advice and even they have said that if you use an aid of any sort to get dress/undress it’s a minimum of 2 points. The gentleman who I saw even showed me online tribunals for people using a sock aid not given any points overturn by the judge! I shall give them a call on Monday to hopefully reconsider but reading other people’s experiences with PIP I’m i’m not holding my breath. I have read that In the three months to July 2023, 68% of all PIP appeals were won by the claimant.
But most people never make it to a hearing.
Because, before you can lodge an appeal, you have to ask the DWP to look at its own decision again. It’s a process called a mandatory reconsideration.
This additional stage was introduced by the DWP especially to reduce the number of appeals, and it’s been extremely successful.
Only 27% of mandatory reconsiderations resulted in a higher award in June 2023. And even then, many of these higher awards are less than the claimant is entitled to.
Yet 65% of claimants give up after their mandatory reconsideration and so never get to put their case to an independent tribunal, where they are very likely to win.

I started with 4 points for daily and enhanced for mobility, MR refused change but tribunal awarded me 12 points daily and no change for mobility for 5 years. Yes it's stress and I nearly didn't continue but worth the long wait for tribunal who were really understanding
