This is probably a stupid question and I can't remember if I've already even asked it as so much is going on right now.But anyway…I have a disabled person's freedom pass and have done for well over 15 years.Should I have mentioned this to the Dwp in relation to pip? Or is it not relevant a

Hi @Jane315STARX that's not a stupid question at all. 😊

I don't think so because it's something granted conditional to benefit receipt. I'm not sure about the process when you originally applied as it's been over 15 years, but now you have to provide proof of your benefit receipt alongside lots of other documentation.

If you do want to be 100%, I'd suggest contacting your local borough council who should be able to answer this for you.

I hope this helps. Please let me know if you do, how you get on.

    Best wishes,

    Holly.

No problem @Jane315STARX I hope it was helpful. 😊 Please keep us updated if you do contact the council, as your experience and feedback might be helpful to someone else wondering the same.

    Have a lovely day!

I don't normally need to contact them as it's sent automatically and renewed. But my question was more in regard to the qualification of pip when entitlement of a disabled freedom pass meets a certain criteria

I did manage to get through and they asked if my circumstances have changed. To which I replied no.So my renewed pass shall be sent as normal with no complications

    HI @Jane315STARX

I would need to get the disabled freedom pass. How and where do i get it? It would reall help to ease on transport costs. Is it the same as the disabled rail card?

    Thank you

I am in my late 50s now and have it had so many years now.If I remember rightly you have to apply firstly to your local council and show that you meet the necessary criteria I.e health etc.I think if you Google Disabled person freedom pass it should give you all the information you need for your location etc.

Site faviconApply for a disabled person's bus pass

This link can help you, it's for bus fares and is a bit different to the Disabled railcard.

Some areas vary, but they can usually be used Monday - Friday 9:30am - 11pm, and all day on weekends and bank holidays.

Passes can be used nationwide if you ever travel around. Non London passes won't scan on tfl buses, so just show your pass to the driver.
