A PIP positive outcome !
So, my PIP journey started on the 12th August. I had the assessment on the 11th November and received my report two weeks later . Unfortunately, the assessor had not noted much of what I had said and it looked like I was only eligible for standard enhanced.
I called PIP and asked if I could speak to someone about this and was put through to a wonderful Case Manager who was overly sympathetic and said she would put in a request for a DM to contact me prior to the decision on my claim so I can explain what had been missed out and also misinterpreted.
Two days ago, I had the call as promised and explained all about my PTSD which was caused by my husband having a near fatal accident earlier this year and also told her that since the assessment, I had now started therapy.
She said that I had absolutely done the right thing in requesting a call and said I did have options. The first was to accept standard enhanced and then go for an MR, or I could leave it with her and she would ask her advisors to look at it again having now spoken to me and that she would call me back at the end of the month with an update. I agreed to the latter.
An hour later, she called me to say that she didn’t think it right to leave me worrying about this over Christmas and made then decision herself to award me standard / standard. I couldn’t believe it! I will also get the back pay in a weeks time.
It’s always worth asking to talk to a Case Manager if you experience this. They are really lovely people ! I hope this helps some of you .
