Wheelchair joystick and warranty rights
Hi. My wheelchair joystick is faulty and is now now fit for purpose after only a year. It was very expensive and thought it had 2 years warranty but I have been told it has ran out. Do I have any rights here. Is the mobility shop supposed to cover it for the 1st year. I've been told only a year as classed as an add on part as not purchased as a whole wheelchair.

I'm not really good with this kinda stuff but surely they have some kind of warranty terms and conditions, as with anything else. I guess it's down to what that says. Make sure you read through it just to make sure they're not mugging you off.
If it says the warranty is for a year and you've had it over a year then disabled or not, I don't think you'd have rights.
Are you on higher mobility for PIP btw? You can get a new one through the mobility scheme. Not as great of a solution than to have it fixed through then warranty but better than buying a new one yourself?
Or have you looked in to how much it would cost just to have the joystick repaired? Might be a better option especially if you spent a lot on it, and not really wanting to have your PIP money buy you a new one (assuming you get PIP)
Sorry not the answer you were hoping for, but hopefully I've helped somewhat.. let us know how u get on or what u decide to do.
Good luck 🫡

Sorry to hear that @starlight33 warranty can vary between shops, so it's best to check the Ts and Cs, it should tell you about any warranty and length. As said above, it's worth checking Motability if you're claiming PIP for mobility.

Thank you I've checked with the manufacturer and only a year as considered a spare part! A 2 year warranty only applies to a whole wheelchair/ add on power drive
