Universal credit migration letter issue
Hi, I received my UC migration letter the other day (migrating from ib ESA / HB), on the top of the letter where it has my 12 digit reference code, the last letter of my reference code has been partially cut off and I can't make it out, obviously a printer error when they printed my letter, do I need the full 12 digit reference number when I complete my migration forms online? Or not? I'm a bit worried.
Thanks.

They do not ask you to provide that when filling out the UC claim form.

Thanks poppy, I appreciate your answer. I was a little scared that while migrating over the online form might have asked ''enter your 12 digit 'Ref' from your migration letter' or something like that.
When filling in the UC claim online is there a section of the forms where I can tell them that I'm in support group ESA and that I'm migrating over, or do they already know? Also, do they automatically apply transitional protection or do I have to ask them to do it?
Thanks for your patience.0 -
There should be a section for that yes.
It allegedly speeds up confirmation of ESA status, but from a few I've advised since then I don't think the system is working well. I still advise people to allow several weeks.
Transitional Protection is automatically calculated, sometimes it isn't done in time for the first statement.
If that happens and you feel you are entitled to TP (not everyone qualifies), you can add a Journal note chasing it.

Thanks Kimmy, I think I am entitled to TP because I get the severe disability premium.
My migration letter says I have until March 22nd to claim UC, so I'm going to wait a while and do it later, I just hope it all goes smoothly when the time comes, it's a scary process for me, just keeping my fingers crossed it all works out okay in the end.0
