Motability WAV - Grant timeframe etc?
Hi,
I've had a wheelchair-accessible van via Motability for 10 years this June - was told last year that I won't be able to extend its lease again, and that I should apply for a grant towards the advance payment / adaptations for a new WAV when there's 6 months left on my lease.
I contacted the grants team last week to ask if I can start the process, and was told someone would be in touch within a week. Hopefully I'll hear from them soon.
I'm basically scared the grant application process, finding a WAV and getting it adapted will take more than 6 months and I'll be without a van come the summer. Does anyone have experience of this? What are the current timeframes?
If I could extend my lease I would - my van's still meeting my needs, so it'll be a wrench to let it go. It was a Nearly New WAV when I got it (having been returned to the dealer not long after the original customer got it), but apart from that I don't remember the process/timeframe. Would there be an option to keep it beyond 10 years at all?
Any info/advice would be great.
Thanks!

I can’t help with the timescale of how long it will take them to contact you. I can tell you that if it takes longer than 6 months you will not be left without a vehicle because you will be able to keep your current one until you collect the new one.
