WILL MY SG ESA CHANGE TO UC

hi and sorry - I’m confused
I’m on full SG esa and have been for over a year. I’ve been reading some posts about a change to UC in the future? Will my sg esa change to uc?
(I’m pretty sure I won’t qualify as my husband has a fire brigade work pension ? - in which case will my sg esa just stop??)
Thanks for reading, I realise we’re very lucky to have my husbands pension- I was a hospice nurse for 35 years but as it’s not nhs I didn’t get a pension-but I’m sure we’re still a lot better off than most x

If your ESA claim started after December 2018 then it's highly likely going to be New Style ESA, this isn't means tested and is not part of UC. New Style ESA Support Group is £138.20 week. (£276.40/fortnight)
Unless you or your partner are claiming any other benefits such as Housing benefit, Income Related ESA/JSA, Income Support or Tax credits then you will not be migrated to UC.

Thankyou Poppy you’re a star
No my husband doesn’t claim anything (apart from CA for me) and yes it is that rate and it is new style esa
I wonder how many people have had their minds put at rest by you 😊 so valuable x
(another ‘tiny’ query……. Am I entitled to free dental treatment with this benefit??)X

You’re very welcome and thank you! Unfortunately your ESA doesn’t automatically entitle you to free dental treatment.
You can apply for NHS low income scheme by filling out a form. See link
