Mobility delay when had a literal promise date call

when ordered was told 17 week beginning of October which would give me time for my payment towards it which was fine then I received and email saying been dispatched to uk let that carry out to then call and ask middle of November will it be before or after Xmas as we all have a hard time Xmas with kids etc to be told the dealer dealing with it wasn’t in till the next day but to expect it last week November first week dec so get the money together basically to then be called by the man dealing with us when he was back in work the next day and said it would deffo arrive I explained if came that week would need to collect week after as was 400 short his response was can you try get it this week to hit target this month so I sold my vehicle to get the rest together( baring in mind I can’t travel on public transport it takes days to build up to actually leave my home as it causes severe anxiety and blow outs etc) the car is still not here and now as one of my conditions is I am useless with money I spontaneously spend without thinking so now due to an actual emergency I’m now 1k down I know I can cancel and swap but I can’t cope with change and delay and avoid any change if possible I darent ring the dealer and swap for the lower model which I can afford and explain all this as it’s embarrassing for me and I litrally hate saying no or disappointing people. Is their anything I can do to dispute the down payment due to actually givin a date/week of arrival pressuring me to sell my only form of life when finally leaving my house and stil not arrived in worrying and scared to let people down any help welcome

Hi @hart1988 I really feel for you - they've really messed you about with these dates. And with having kids I can't imagine how difficult it is for you at the minute.
I've done a bit of investigation about your rights in raising a complaint about the delivery delay and I've added a link I found really helpful. If you've had the delivery date confirmed in writing, it puts you in a good position to raise a complaint and negotiate. It might be worth having a look through your paperwork or emails to see if they've done this. Also, raising a complaint with their customer service team as well as your sales contact (who, by the sounds of it hasn't been very helpful).

I completely understand why your nervous to speak to them. I would feel the same after all the stress and being messed around. Is there somebody, perhaps a family member or friend that could contact them on your behalf once you've had a look through your paperwork?
