Paid Caring help for parent⁰
Hi there folks Kris back again , not been on here for while , hope everyone had a better xmas n new year than me , im here today to enquire about family members , is there any help for them even if thereon state pension, mainly my mum. Up until 2-3 years ago i ran my own plumbing and heating company but due to my illness ive had to stop working totally, few years back (2017)i was diagnosed with COPD so i started claiming pip,,,,,,,im now on Uni credit and ADP, 2 years ago i was put on a medication plan for NTM ( non tuberculosis mycobacteria) due to being hospitalised over xmas i know ive also problems with my heart and left lung so i moved back into my parents, although there always on the go they are both pension age , my dads retired and my mum still does a few hours a week at a local shop, as they are pension age they cant get carers payment, is there anything available for my mum as shes doing the fulltime work of caring for me, many thanks for any help given ,
From Kris

As they live together and they are over state pension age it would be Pension Credit but it will depend on how much their state pension is, any other pension they may have how much earnings your mum receives.
She can claim carers support payment (replaced Carers allowance in Scotland) but she won't be entitled to payments if her state pension is more than the Carers.. £81.90/week. She would have what's known as an underlying entitlement to it, which would increase entitlement to Pension Credit by £45.60/week but as I advised, it depends on their overall financial circumstances whether there's any entitlement.
They can use a Pension Credit calculator here.
