Partner and me want to move in together
hi,
Me and my partner want to buy a house together. We live separately but have 3 children. I’m on UC (and currently on maternity leave but work part time). I was wondering how much I’d lose if we did go through with it x

That will depend on your partner circumstances as well as your own. You would need to claim UC as a couple. Put both of your details into a benefits calculator and see what it comes up with.

hi Poppy,
We have tried the calculator but a bit confused. Do we need to do it as if we are going to be living together or how we are?
Also we can’t seem to work out the deductions we would have as it says as a joint claim you can make £1437 and he makes 2000 after tax plus my work earnings which when I go back they haven’t got much work for my so will only be 200 max.

You need to fill out the calculator as if you were a couple living together, as Poppy advised.
