Osteoarthritis
Had a GP appointment this morning due to stiffness and pain and not being able to grip very well with my right hand after dropping the kettle at weekend due to the pain when I picked it up.
Have to have bloods done to see if its rheumatoid arthritis or not?
Just another ailment to add to my ever growing list 🤣

As the kids would say "Gotta catch em all!"
Seriously though @noman I'm so sorry to hear that, I know how annoying arthritis can be. Fingers crossed they'll get back to you asap so you can get a plan together. 😊0 -
yes it gets to the point where it’s just another item on the list. I asked my hubby what you call someone who every time they go to the Drs they come out with another diagnosis? Not a hypochondriac or munchausens. I went for an mri for my spine at RNOH, radiographer noticed kidney issues and told me to mention to my GP asap. Just one of many occurrences like that. Fortunately it’s nothing serious just the way I’m built. I asked my mum, as I am a 70’s baby, if she took anything while pregnant with me as I’ve many odd things and she was very offended 😂 But I had to ask!

Yes, it was a funny time; my own mother was told by an uncle of mine how great Guinness was for pregnant women😕…thankfully advice vis-á-vis alcohol has changed.

I am a fiftys baby & was born with mild Cerebal Palsy which affected my right side & also a curved spine (cannot remember medical name) to the right & various internal problems. My Mother was told to drink a glass of Guiness each day. She & everyone around me seemed to smoke. I remember regularly having smoke around me when people held me. I remember when I was a child when I sent to see the GP he always had a cigarrette on. There were even people smoking in the Waiting Room with ashtrays provided. Nowadays I stay away from Doctors if I can as when I have gone these last few years they seem to find something else. I have Arthritis all over the place, chronic chest problems (apparently my right lung did not grow properly) titanium bits in my spine. After I had a fall in the 1970s where I broke some vertebrae I had what was considered a high risk operation to fuse them together & also straightened my spine. This lasted well until the beginning of this century when it was found the fusion had started to crumble & in 2006 I had the operation redone using titanium. I was warned my spine was a bit crumbly. A few years ago I lost a couple of bottom teeth & my Dentist took an X ray & found my jaw was disappearing. I have arthritis in it. I take a calcuim supplement among many others to help stop things crumbling. Sometimes I get really low & fed up especially nowadays as since my Parents death a few years ago I do not see anyone unless I go out. I have telephone numbers to contact if I wanted to speak to someone & know what I should do but sometimes it is getting the self motivation to do it.

Rheumatoid arthritis is not an arthritis it is an auto immune disease and you really don't want it to be that. I'm still struggling 8 years after being diagnosed. The drugs are brutal and the pain is relentless until the doctors that treat you find a happy medium of drugs. It is incurable and unless you have it you will never know how bad it can get.

As well as having autism, i have also got osteoarthritis, which I have had since I was 35, so 16 years. My mum refused to acknowledge that I had osteoarthritis and since I was living at home until my mum and dad died, which was 7 yrs ago for mum and 8 yrs ago for dad. My osteoarthritis went undiagnosed until 2022. I have also got painful hips because I was born with abnormal hips that also so far is undiagnosed. I've seen the physio at my local hospital who has told me my hip problems are just muscular, nothing else, but I know that there is more to my hip problems that just the muscles

Rhuematoid arthritis is nothing like osteoarthritis, I think it really should be called Rhuematoid Disease. It's an autoimmune condition that affects so much more than joints, it can damage your organs and eyes as well as causing pain in the tendons amongst other things. The treatment is also totally different and that in itself can cause liver/lung damage, I really wouldn't wish it on my worste enemy, I do hope you don't have it and wouldn't be calling it just another ailment.

My blood test has ruled out RA so I will have to find out what happens next,i assume other tests/x rays will be needed for osteoarthritis to be diagnosed.
I have been given Zapain for the pain but I don't think they will help the joint stiffness in my fingers so will probably have to make another appointment.
I did find out my Vit D is on the low side and serum folate so on folic acid tabs for 3 months.
