UC migration
I am currently on long-term esa support group and received a letter in October to migrate over to universal credit by Jan 31st.
I completed the forms online today and submitted my application.
Upon checking the to do list it is saying the system has detected I am not in receipt of any other benefits even tho I am on ESA ,furthermore it is saying I must agree to and accept to work commitments by the 20th January otherwise I will not be paid and I will not be entitled to universal credit.
This is very concerning and stressful.

It takes a few weeks for ESA to confirm your status with UC.
Until then the system treats you as available for work.
You can ignore any requests for a Fit Note as this isn't required when migrating from ESA.
Once your status is confirmed, any such request will disappear.
I do recommend adding a note to your Journal, stating you are migrating from Support Group ESA.

Ok thank you kimmy I will do that now ,It is unnecessary for the DWP to make people worry like this, surely there is a better way for them to deal with this.

I agree, their communication could be vastly improved.
Managed and natural migration have been going on for years, long enough for the process to have been fine tuned to a much higher degree.

The deadline is today for accepting my commitments on my journal or it says I will not be paid , I have left notes stating under the legislation I am not obliged to accept the commitments as I am migrating from support group with sdp.
This is very stressful and unprofessional.
Help needed please

Citizens Advice have a Help to Claim service, see what advice they give you
Personally I would go ahead and accept the commitments as they are, once your ESA status is confirmed they will change and you'll be asked to agree to the new ones.

It’s not unusual for it to take a few weeks for ESA to send your details across and I see it’s not been a week since you claimed.

Yes I sent my claim over on the 14th , but surely by agreeing to these commitments I am agreeing to look for work and provide a fit note ,I don't want to lie I am unwell and can't work.

The UC system treats you as a jobseeker until your ESA is confirmed, that is normal I'm afraid.

Hi Frankrules -I'm in the exact same situation as you are -long term ESA migration to UC --made my claim on the 27th accepted my work commitments as needed when switching to UC -advisable that you do agree to these commitments so that your claim can continue-today I've spoke to some really helpful and knowledgeable people on here gave me advise and learnt that I have I fact been awarded LWRCA and that once that happens your work commitments change automatically-without this forum I'd have been clueless -can't thank the people that have helped enough

Hi Maurice 82
Do your claim also state that the system had not detected that you were claiming any other benefits and that you should contact your local office of benefit is this is not true ?
Something doesn't sit right with me on this ,I don't trust this DWP

Hi frankrules as much as I can remember-it being nearly a month ago that I filled out my Claim-the only thing I was told when I claimed was that I wouldn't need to produce a fit note -my claim had in fact detected that I was claiming ESA -If your claim is saying otherwise then I would imagine you'd need to contact the DWP -as for agreeing to work commitments I agreed mine until the time that my old ESA claim met my new UC claim -usually a couple of weeks -then today I was advised to check my work commitments and they had indeed changed because LCWRA had been awarded -but again if you are unsure this forum is excellent for helpful advice-advice-or contact the

Ok thanks Maurice ,the system has not detected my ESA.
It's terrible this, causing me so much stress and anxiety.

Frankrules I agree it could be done so much better-again if you're not sure of anything make sure you agree to your temporary agreements so that your claim can move forward-anything else can easily be Sorted by contacting the DWP-but try not to get to stressed and Anxious-it will be sorted out

We have heard quite a few stories like this, where the confirmation that you are in the Support Group is taking it's time. I have brought this issue up with one of our other teams before and I will see if we have learnt anything new about what might be being done, or what should be being done in these situations.
