Hi, Just a word on the 'care' system as experienced by my wife and I.
I have just Googled for suggestions / help (ha,ha) with our son. He is 42, autistic, LD, constantly angry, refuses help, drugs, etc from so called 'professionals'. You may have noted by my tone what we think about the so called professional help available, because it IS anything BUT that! I was directed by Google to a SCOPE page, some 5 years old, with a story from Chloe. I do hope she is still coping alright. My wife and I are in pretty much the same situation. It is ****! The ONLY help we get is - Self help, Coping Strategies, How to Bring a 'situation' down. WOW, REALLY? We never thought of any of those things, do these folk think we are morons or what?? What is their reasoning for them not being unable to do anything if he refuses? Why do they think we have gone to them for help? Do they think he does what we ask, that he calms down, he stops shouting and being abusive. The only help we have ever had in 42 years is 'here's some leaflets to read, and find some help groups'. How about !****!!! Anyway, just thought I'd add my TOTAL disillusionment and lack of, trust faith, whatever in the 'help system' from the 'professionals'. We also know what Chloe means about the 'care system' Homes, institutions etc. Yes, they are anything BUT care. There may be some good places out there but they are very few and very far between. We live next door to a community care facility, and we can say the care just is not there! They exist, with the odd good carer (1 in the last 10 years anyway) but a lot of poor ones (ones we have heard and reported for 'mimiking' one resident, but years later STILL works there)! Oh Well. Looks like we have to trundle on, accepting the **** from our son, the **** from the so called 'professionals' stating the bleeding obvious, and OUR sanity spiralling ever downwards into god knows what or where and when. Keep your chins up yourselves, cos there aint no-one out there gonna keep it up for you!
