weve just applied for UC with managed migration and on ESA esi had enhanced disability premium. I've done the calculation and it says we should be better off plus I'm ialso getting new style ESA and they've said it should be the same amount just from ESA and UC. Is this correct thank you

NS ESA will be paid separately from UC, fortnightly at a rate of £276.40.

This will be deducted in full (598.68) from each UC payment.

As UC is a monthly benefit and ESA weekly, the numbers may look wrong- but are correct. As there are 4.3 weeks in a month.

You might get a letter mentioning work coach, medical evidence etc. Don't panic.

The letter is a generic letter, assuming the claim is a brand new one and not a transfer from the old ESA. Most of it doesn't apply to your claim.

You will need a commitments interview for NS ESA this is just a formality, your commitments will be to keep them updated with any changes. If a face to face is booked, you can ask for a phone call instead as a reasonable adjustment. It's a very brief appointment.

It's correct that those on ESA EDP are better off under UC, because UC LCWRA pays more than ESA SG +EDP, however as you mentioned "we" any entitlement will be based on your joint circumstances as a couple.

Did you get Severe Disability Premium with your ESA?

Yes your husband should get carers element, carers allowance will also be deducted in full from your UC award.
