Medication

Hi everyone

I suffer with chronic pain due to some deterioration of joints in my neck and lower spine. Ive been having hand and head tremors and also sleepless nights due to pain. I’ve had various scans to rule out brain problems and yesterday my doctor decided that the tremors are because of my pain levels.

I have become intolerant to medication and can’t keep medication down, so every pain killer that I have tried I just bring back up.

Yesterday my doctor decided to put me on morphine 4 times a day. I’m trying to keep it down but again am struggling.

He has also lowered my Venloflaxine by half and also plans to lower my Amitriptyline. I have been on this medication for a few years so seem to be able to tolerate it.

Despite me telling him that I am feeling very low due to my pain levels, I am now taking only half of the Venloflaxine that I was previously taking.

Now I’m worried about my mental health. It’s hard enough coping with what’s going on in my body and I’m scared that my mental health is going to suffer as I’m already very low.

He seems to think that that if eventually stopping amitriptyline and Venloflaxine, it will help me with my pain.

I’m so confused and scared but he was adamant it needs to be done.

Has anyone else had this happen?

(Sorry for the essay)

Hi @TiredHurty67 I'm so sorry your in so much pain. Are you getting on a bit better with the morphine now it's been a bit of time getting adjusted? It sounds like the doctors trying to help with the pain, but your MH needs are incredibly important too. How are you feeling now - have things moved on at all since this post? It might be worth asking them to look at an alternative combination if you're continuing to see a negative impact on your MH.

    Best wishes,

    Hello!

If you are talking about the incompetence of doctors when prescribing therapy, then no one is immune from medical errors. Just like accidents happen on the roads, although all drivers undergo proper training and pass exams. I decided to conduct a survey for myself by reading medical literature and research on my diseases in order to convincingly convey my point of view to the doctor.

    Collaboration helps!
