Hello everybody

Could somebody please help. This is all new to me. I currently receive PIP enhanced on both. My husband has just been approved for carers allowance. My question is, does he have to let the tax office know or will tax be deducted automatically? He does not work but has a private company pension which he gets every month. Also i am on new style contribution type ESA, i am assuming him claiming carers allowance will not affect my ESA benefits ( i am still waiting my assesment to see which group i am put into)

Thank you for reading

The personal tax allowance is £12,570/year. If the carers allowance and his pension are less than this then there would be no tax to pay.

His carers allowance will not affect your ESA because that isn’t means tested.
