    Yes @whistles if I could afford a full-time PA it would be at the going rate. I would not employ a friend.

    I'm not in work. I depend of CB ESA, PIP, and savings. Any "work" is paid for at the going rate irrespectiveof whether it'sdone by a friendor stranger.

    What I'm really talking about in this thread is a bit of friendly help from folks who've known me ages. The occasional journey with costs more than adequately covered.

    You raise a good point about receipts. I'm pretty sure the money I give to cover costs is not declared. It's a difficult situation. I think I'll have to move towards an ad hoc PA.

    Have you had a social care assessment? You might be entitled to direct payments which is totally different from our benefits.

    I believe the minimum wage these days is £12 and a PA can range from £15.

    In some cases it will actually be cheaper to book a taxi. I don't have friends that are free to drive me places so that has to be an option.
