Extra room

So you are aware this is not a question about money its about being able to bid on the number of bedrooms needed.
He currently has weekly support stay in his two bedroom property but he needs to move for personal reasons and he needs his care to continue once he has moved.
This won't be possible if he bids on and moves into a one bedroom property. However staying where he currently resides is not an option for much longer because it is affecting his health.
Therefore we are between a rock and a hard place, so suggestions on how to overcome these obstacles would be appreciated.
Do we appeal the council decision to not allow extra room/to bid on two bedrooms OR do we deal with DWP and do they decide what he can bid on.

Is this a continuation of your earlier thread today and you started a new thread rather than comment on your previous one? You can see your previous thread here along with the advice you had. It maybe better to keep your questions regarding this to one thread because then members can see the advice you've already had, along with the questions you asked.

In that thread you asked if he claimed UC would DWP make a decision regarding the extra bedroom needed. The replies you received were to answer that question as well as bidding on 2 bedroom properties.

You have 2 separate questions here, one is bidding on properties which is all part of his local Authority and nothing to do with DWP. The other is help with the rent, which would either be housing benefit from his local Authority or UC housing element, which is dealt with by DWP.

A decision can't be made on any help with the rent until he actually moves house.

To be able to bid on 2 bedroom properties he would need to send some evidence to his local Authority for social/council housing and wait for then to make their decision. It won't be an easy or straight forward process for them to agree for him to bid on 2 bedrooms, rather than 1.
