Universal credit migration notice from ESA
Hello I was wonderinkng if anyone can put me at ease as am worried about a few things. I currently get esa in the support group I get £481.10 a fortnight. I did a benefit calculation and I end up with loads of reductions and don't understand how much I should get with uc. Plus I moved into a 2 bedroom house because I need care at night on the nights I need it. I currently don't have to pay the bedroom tax of 14% will I still be entitled to that on uc and still get my full rent paid. And dose anyone know what esa am on am I getting the severe disability component. Thanks.

Your ESA includes the SDP and you're in the Support Group. Your UC will include the LCWRA element from the start of your claim.
You will not be worse off when you migrate to UC providing you wait for the migration letter to arrive. Your UC will include Transitional Protection. However, this erodes overtime so if other elements increase or you become entitled to other elements the TP erodes until such a time is ends completely. Benefit calculators are not reliable when trying to calculate Transitional Protection and for this reason I don't advise you to use them.
You will not automatically be entitled to an extra bedroom for a carer and you will need to apply for this when you claim UC. A decision maker will then make a decision on that.

Thank you poppy123456 . It's alot of worry for people all this. Not been to sleep for days reading gov sites and not understanding any of it. Am so glad I found this site. I have got the migration letter. I used a letter from my dr asking to remove the bedroom tax with housing benefit and they removed it. Hopefully it's the same process 🙏 again. Thanks again
