Poppy I was on esa with sdp and migrated to UC , I was told I'd be getting the same amount because of TP . But you said sdp isn't payed with new style esa now. So how will my new award of UC keep my payments the same as old LB , because my new style esa is £276 a fortnight were as before it was another 200 pound more. So what will my UC be roughly? 👍

If your entitlement under UC is less than legacy benefits, Transitional Protection will make up the difference in your UC award.

This does erode over time as other elements go up or new elements are added to the claim.

How long does Transition Protection last?

    It lasts until:

A major change such as swapping between single & couples claim when it ends.

When the normal rates of UC catch up to the amount of money someone with TP gets.

The person getting TP is awarded a new element, the TP then reduces by the amount of the new element, sometimes to zero and it ends.

Hi 👋 I've just received my first month UC amount 440 AP , or something. So because I'm a migrater from esa SG with SDP protection , will this now be my monthly award from now on as long as nothing changes in my circumstances 🤷, ??

Yes as long as your circumstances don't change.

Until the annual rises catch up and exceed your current award, your UC payment will be effectively frozen.
