Disabled Adult Full-Time Education

Hi Wonderful Community,
I have a quick question…What benefits would I lose, and which ones would I keep if I plan to take a full-time course as a disabled adult?
Will I be eligible for any discounts?
Thank you!

I see that you're claiming UC with a partner so your UC can continue in this case. I also see that at the moment your UC doesn't include the LCWRA element, which means you may have commitments so there could be issues with being a full time student because of that.
If there's a maintenance loan available to you then it will affect your UC, even if you decide not to take that loan.
If you're claiming PIP/DLA those will not be affected.

Hi @poppy123456 ,
You are amazing! Such great insight and very well explained. I am going to steer clear of applying for a full-time university course, as it looks like I would be in a risky financial situation. To be honest, it might also be difficult for me to cope given my current health condition, but it was something I had been considering. Thank you.

There is also Disabled Students Allowance (DSA) that you may be entitled to if you start a course. This is an allowance to cover the study-related costs you have because off your disability such as specialist equipment, extra travel etc.
The type of support and how much you get depends on your own needs so your household income doesn't matter.
Hope this was helpful, please reach out if you would like further support or have more questions😀0 -
Thanks @Mary_Scope , you all are so caring and helpful. Wish I would’ve known you all earlier 🙂
