Hello to scope members.

I am appointee for my grandson, who has now reached 16 years of age. He has to change to PIP.

He has severe anxiety, ADHD, DEFIANCE DISORDER, SPD. AND GETS DEPRESSIVE PERIODS thoughout the year

There is not a chance in hell, he will attend a strange venue, in front of strangers.

Also, he is in process of doing mock exams in school, which is 65 miles away, can a phone consultation be arranged, or does he have to attend, which for one he will not stay off school, and secondly as I explained earlier.

Am I just best ringing them up and cancelling the benefit.

Was a pupil at the school on panorama, had an horrendous time there, which just totally added to his issues, of which made things like this (interviews etc) worse.

Thank you

You can request a phone assessment and as his appointee you can answer the questions.

    Thank you Kimmy.

Do I put this request in writing ,or a phone call.

Will he at least need to be at home, or just attend school as normal, he looks forward to school, does not like to stay off, and he will not ,by any means speak to strangers, not to mention an official building, bad enough getting him to attend hosp to see his consultant.

    Thanks

You don’t need to put the request in writing for a telephone assessment. If as assessment is needed and you receive an appointment in person you can ring to cancel it and ask for a telephone appointment.

He shouldn’t need to be at home during the assessment.

Okay poppy, appreciate your advice and help. This is a first, so I want to make sure I go contact them, knowing the facts and not to be intimidated.

    Thank you.

I'm my daughter's appointee and when I did her work capability assessment by telephone, she was home because it was during Covid. They asked to speak to her just to say hello and she did exactly that, said hello and gave me the phone back. They do not need to be with you during a telephone appointment. It would be different if it was face to face.

    We will take that onboard,

And let that introduction take place ,and hope that is that, as he will not speak to them, he does not trust anybody. It is just the way he is.
