PIP mandatory reconsideration letter, outside the 13 month allowance

Hi, I missed the deadline (the 13 month window🤦‍♀️) to submit my pip mandatory reconsideration by a month, is it worth posting it anyway? I have several extenuating circumstances that prevented me from submitting the letter and pack of evidence sooner. I have called Pip and they suggested starting a new claim but I can’t help but think of restarting this process all over again and missing out on the backpay I could’ve gotten.

Has anyone submitted their letter and evidence after the 13 month window ?
What should I do, post the letter and evidence anyway?

Will they read it and consider it or automatically throw it all in the bin?

Will I get any sort of response from them telling me whether they’ll review it or that it’s outside of the given time frame ?

How will I know that they’ve received it ?

Help 😬

Hi @22Riah, While I can't say for certain, I'd imagine that after the 13 month window the chances of them accepting it may unfortunately be quite low.

You could always try sending it with details of your circumstances and see how you get on. If you keep a copy of all the things you're sending in too, you'll still have those details if you do end up having to start a new application. I can understand why you'd want to avoid that though!

You can obtain proof of postage when you send it, but often proof of delivery doesn't mean they've actually read it once it reaches them. If you do decide to send it in, I'd wait a week or two then give them a ring to see if they've received it and are able to consider it.

Hope you can get it sorted without too much stress!

I also imagine, if you missed the deadline, better do not waste your energy.

You've already contacted them, which is great..
I'd seek some advice from Citzens advice or similar as well
ALWAYS keep copies of forms (most phones have a scan option or app if you don't have access to a scanner or copier) or get someone to help you.
I upload mine to a google account for online storage)
Try and keep a record/diary if you like of when you post stuff/when you call, names..
    Then you have a timeline..
Sending stuff in signed for will cost a bit, but you then have a record that it HAS reached the DWP..
