UC Housing element

Gawd almighty I’m going to need a degree in UC by the time I’m done.
Ok I see so I guess that increased cost is just till April then back to normal as we are at the end of the financial year well nearly.
so after April it should go back down to whatever that is
seems unfair to pay a week for a day but that’s what it is.
I guess I’m at the end of the financial year so a plus I guess. Till the next one! At least I will know to add a little money a month for that one.Thank you for explaining that!

Only some financial years have 53 mondays in, so for your rent account that extra is due for 2024-2025.
It'll be a few years until the next one 🙂

Yes those 53 Monday's for those renting from social housing, I was exactly the same from April last year and they also contacted me to tell me. I've been paying a small amount extra each month to cover that shortfall. It doesn't apply to those privately renting and it only happens about every 4 or 5 years I think.

oh fun. Just received a tax credit notice for for the period of last year to uc claim date saying I’ve been overpaid! And a debt of just over £600 has to be repaid! Does say amount to be confirmed o. The date my uc is due.
I received one payment last week for tc I called they couldn’t explain. I guess this is part of it.They said it will be taken out of my us over a number of weeks

I don’t know how that has happened they have had all the correct info.

Heads up to anyone migrating, I migrated on the day I received ESA and was expecting a 2 week run on as advertised, I was paid a day early and a day short of the full amount, my advise would be to to it the day after your last ESA payment.

Ok so they got back to me and said why the first housing payment is lower is because it is for the past three weeks of feb from the date housing benefit stopped and that April would reflect my true housing element as the first payment will just cover from HB stop date to end of Feb.
Marches rent won't be paid till April 12th
Still no activity on children being verified still a few odd weeks left. Not further to dos I guess they are just quietly processing in the background.
I'm guessing what I get paid will be just for the remainder of feb or up to the 12th of April ? trying to work out what that may be for 3 children, and moving from the support group / standard allowance.

You can try a benefits calculator
UC is paid one month in arrears. Each payment is based on your circumstances for the previous calender month, known as the Assessment Period.
When you claim UC Housing Benefit ends.
Apart from one more payment of two weeks (known as the run on payment).
This run on payment doesn't impact your UC award.
Unless you have been overpaid hb beyond this (which would reduce first UC payment), it's more likely a case of the usual poor advice they give out.
IMO it's more likely your bedroom entitlement isn't yet calculated properly, if you have one or more children as yet unverified. So your HE is probably currently not reflecting your proper entitlement.
EDIT: Have you actually had your first statement yet?
If not instead of trying to guess ahead of time, it's probably better to wait for that statement then work backwards to figure out any issues.

The statement is due on the 8th March and payment on the 12th.
Appreciate the advice; the benefit calc does help with a monthly number. I was just wondering what it might total from end of legacy benefits.
That's the part that concerns me not knowing if I've been paid correctly or not as I'm not sure what I should be getting.
Am I expecting 5 weeks of back pay or from the time legacy benefits and HB stopped ?

Each statement will have the date of your Assessment Period on.
The payment you get is for those dates.
UC is paid one month in arrears.
This link has all the different elements that are payable under UC.
So you would look at your statement to make sure all the ones you qualify for are on there, that the number of dependant children is correct, if there are any deductions that they should be made and are not a mistake - you mentioned a TC debt so that would be correct, as you get DL PIP a deduction shouldn't be made for the non dependant, etc

Ok thats great thank you. I'll check that very well when it arrives.
Ahh yes TC will make a deduction for the over payment.
so for standard i would get £393.45 + £416.19 = 809.64 / 2 = £404.82
on esa I got £481.10 every two weeks so a difference of £76.28 based on a two weekly amount
would that be made up in TP ?

Not sure I see the child rates for 3 child all born before 2017 ?

UC is based on a calendar month which is 30 days, not 28 for the ESA figure. I'd use a benefits calculator personally as it will do the conversion.
If your total UC award is lower than legacy benefits, yes you will have Transitional Protection added so at the time of transfer, you aren't worse off.
Honestly at this point I'd sit tight and wait for the statement, then work backwards if you feel something is wrong.

yeah fair point, thank you.
The waiting genuinely is awful!
Nearly there.

Just received a pip review form 1043 my award is still good for 8 months seems early.
Not sure if this has anything to do with my migration or completely unrelated I'm guessing. Looks like a year of change for me.
Just trying to find this form online to fill out for ease, anyone know where I can get it.
Not sure if its the same as a full review or just an update on my health.
I know I usually have to have a medical sometimes.

My statement is due on the 8th, what time do these normally show on you account ?
(still no update on verifying children) maybe worth messaging them ?

Although your official due date is the 8th, it's likely to be available on the 6th or 7th so worth checking.
Mine are usually available after 12am.

Great, I'll keep an check out for that.
All getting stressful when I thought things were settling down now pips want to do a review.
Started filling the form. Looks to by my year with the DWP! only got 17 days before they want it! was sent 2 weeks ago and only just received.
Just when one hurdle ends another begins. Its a difficult system for the disabled.

I noticed the questions seems different and not very intune with mental illness seems more concentrated on physical issues.
