£276.40/fortnight ESA but the deduction from UC will be £598.86/month. The deduction looks more than you receive but it's correct because there's 4.3 weeks in a month, not 4 weeks.

UC will then top up your income and be paid once a month. How much you'll be entitled to will depend on circumstances and what elements you'll be entitled to.

hi poppy how do we know if our claim is all income related esa, I've looked at my benefits uprating letter and it says income related, but I've seen so many people online shocked at receiving a letter when their migrating to uc saying they are actually on contribution esa too as a top up, when they thought they was just on income related, Do uc have to wait for esa to send them your details after you have confirmed your identity for uc to check if your fully income related or a mixture of both esa income related and contribution esa. or new style esa as it's now known? or will uc automatically know which esa your on before esa send your details?

Many thanks for the great help you give out on here :)

I only found out when I received the follow up call, after my id interview at the jobcentre.

At first I couldn't understand why I was to receive NS ESA, in conjunction with UC.

The only way to know for sure is to ring ESA and ask.

The letters they send are complex and difficult to understand, even for experienced advisors.

When you claim UC, ESA will send details of your award to them. This can take a few weeks.

Take it easy, Catherine, it really nothing to worry about. Any questions you have will be answered in this community.

You now know alot more than I did when I applied for UC. As i've said many times, I knew nothing about all this until i joined here, about 5 weeks ago.

For example, I only learned from a member 2 days ago, that the Disabled Income Guarantee was in fact the enhanced premium. This after 15 years claiming ESA!

hi. i recently went to the job centre to confirm my id which was a struggle to do and now i’ve just had further letter asking me to book a appointment with my work coach at some point to talk about how my illness effects me and to accept my commitments.

i was previously in the support group for esa why are they telling me i have a work coach mad to accept my new style esa ? any help would be appreciated

This is probably because the system has picked up on your health condition but doesn't yet know you are migrating from ESA Support Group. It can take a few weeks for ESA to confirm your status with UC.

Everyone applying for UC is allocated a work coach at first.

I'd add a Journal note stating you are migrating from ESA, and see if the appointment can be changed to a phone call instead.

Until the ESA status is confirmed you might have to go ahead with an appointment and accept commitments to protect your claim.

Once LCWRA is confirmed (UC equivalent of ESA Support Group) those commitments will change and you will no longer have a work coach.

thank you for the reply i still don’t understand why they are assigning me a work coach i mentioned when confirming my id that am in the support group for esa.

what is new style esa ?

It's because ESA need to confirm your award with UC. As that hasn't been done yet you've been assigned a work coach.

As I advised it can take a few weeks for ESA to confirm your status with UC.

Have you received correspondence about New Style ESA following your UC application?

am about 3/4 week into my uc claim now from the migration lettter. i received a letter today saying i’ve been given the work coach.

it says your esa will change to new style esa from _____

we will contact you to book an appointment that’s you must attend this will be with a work coach at the local job centre it may take place over the phone or face to face.

your work coach will explain what you need to do to complete your new style esa.

Okay, if you'd have said that at the beginning my advice would have been:

Regarding NS ESA, please click on the purple text (View Post) and read through the thread.
