single occupancy council tax 25% discount.

I have been on DLA since 1992. I had a fall last Saturday, and last year I was diagnosed with Macular disease as though I don't have enough.
After the fall I wrote to the council asking if my carer has to live in occasionally, will I lose my 25% discount.
I am still awaiting a reply. Surely they should have the answer to these questions? The discount is worth quite a lot, and I already have a band reduction from 2001.
I am considering giving up the 25% single occupancy discount if it is so much trouble and can have someone when I need it without having to ask each time.

You should not lose your single person council tax reduction if a carer only stays occasionally.

I thought so, but after a week the council have not replied, and I would have thought they would have that information at hand to respond quickly.
I am arguing with myself as to whether I can just give it up and not have to ask them at all. I have CCTV so they could play it back and see no one is here permanently. I cannot look far enough into the future to know if I am going to need someone for longer. It is such a difficult decision. Then again, perhaps Ms Reeves will make it up for me and take the discount away anyway.

If your local council are anything like mine then they are incompetent and good luck with getting a reply and as for Reeves she needs to go .asap
