Carers

The old ESA carers (allowance - we think please see our image), is it has transitioned to UC (we had TP). So we couldn't find anything about "carers" on UC payments. Sorry, it's our first time and we want to get everything right so we don't miss out.

Does we need carers allowance or carers element?

We are both pip enhanced of daily living and mobility.

Thank you for your time

Carers Allowance is deducted in full from your UC award, so there is no financial gain to claiming that.

Carers Element can be claimed by the person who doesn't have LCWRA.

I believe from your other posts this is you.

You'd need to log into your account, select report a change and then caring for someone (your husband).

    Ah, makes sense.

Job centre: A health assessment form will be posted to me soon; if I pass it, I can't have LCWRA because my husband already has one. What's my award if I pass the health assessment with over 15 points?

We want to learn something new every day. Our old ESA was smooth; now, our new UC claim makes us confused. Thank you for your time and reply. We appreciate it.

I believe your husband already gets LCWRA?

If so when you go through a WCA you can be awarded LCWRA, but you won't receive any extra money. The amount payable for your LCWRA would be £0.

If you get LCWRA you won't be able to claim Carers Element as I previously advised, because the same person cannot get both CE & LCWRA.

UC is different from legacy benefits but things will settle down & smooth out in time. You will also get used to the new system 😊
