ESA to UC migration

I received my IR ESA to UC notice. I am panicking and wondered if I can request an extension beyond the 3 months as I have no support and not in right frame of mind right now.
Also, do I have to go JC to show proof of ID if I've been in IR ESA for I dint have a passport or driving licence. Only have provisional driving licence and will struggle to go JC due to mental health and mobility problems.
Finakky, any positive stores about migrating from ESA to UC as I can only see horror stories, which is making me even more anxious about the whole process.
Why didn't DWP transfer people in receipt of ESA to UC automatically?! Seems like they want to create more anxiety and distress for vulnerable people and no organisation is speaking up on our behalf. I'm terrified and waiting for an urgent referral to CMHT.

You can request an extension if you can provide a good reason for this. You may find it helpful to contact the Help to Claim Service on 0800 144 8 444. Lines are open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. This service is run by Citizens Advice and they can give you indepth advice on Universal Credit and can support you to make a claim. As to why DWP didn't automatically transfer people I'm not sure. If I were being cynical I would say that it is an issue of cost.

Hi,
Your provisional driving licence will count as one piece of ID, the same as a full driving licence.
If you have any credit or finance then you may be able to confirm ID online using the credit reference. If not then you can request a biographical phonecall to confirm ID. If that is not suitable either, you can request a home visit, though there may be a long wait for that.
