LCWRA and wirk allowance confusion

Hello I hope my question makes sense .. Apologies if not ..

So my husband and I are now both on LCWRA from having to give up work due to myself suffering a brain haemorrhage stroke, and my husband previous work related lung disease .

We have the joint claim so get the LCW payment and the standard allowance payment roughly £617.

I get carers allowance too but my full carers allowance of £345 roughly is deducted in full from Universal Credit. My confusion is, is this deemed as income and if so isn't there a work allowance of £631 before any payment us reduced ?

In other words the £345 carers allowance only is under the work allowance amount so why is it deducted?

If I had some part time home work as an example for this amount it would be under the work allowance amount t so woukd not be deducted from Universal Credit?

I hope this makes sense? Or is carers allowance deemed a separate thing with the work allowance threshold?

Thanks in advance

Carers Allowance and UC are both income replacement benefits.

A person cannot receive two incomes from welfare (known as overlapping benefits), hence why CA is deducted from UC.

The work allowance is entirely separate and related to earnings.

Aww thank you so.much for clearing this up, I understood this but the whole.amount of carers allowance was deducted .

So if I also managed to work say 3 hours a week part time from home due to post stroke sensory issues, but it under the work allowance amount of £631, this extra tiny amount of money will not be effected ?

    Correct.

The work allowance is £404 (if claiming Housing Element) or £673 (without HE).

Any deductions would only apply once the applicable amount has been exceeded.
