Moving out and housing costs

hi!

I currently live with my mum but she got given a section 21 and we have to be out by August. She does not want me to move out with her as we have constant arguments.

my mum is a huge narcissist and very emotionally abusing. I struggle a lot with my mental health and this is towering in top of it aswell.

I have just started a part time job at 16 hours but this is not enough for me to move out with. I still claim universal credit due to starting so recently-

I do not have the funds to pay any deposits and have never lived independently so I was wondering how housing element works. And if there is any support I can get to pay deposits and towards moving costs.

The council have declined my application for social housing as they see it as I have until August to leave, however my mum is going to move back in with her mother and she may do this at any point before then- I do not have anywhere or anyone I can live with if I do not find somewhere asap.

if anyone can give any help and advice I’d appreciate it as I feel like I’m going insane and have no support.

thanks:)

I'd encourage you to speak to Shelter for advice https://england.shelter.org.uk/get_help

Some local authorities have schemes where they pay deposit etc.

You could also reach out to a local benefits advisor.

    https://advicelocal.uk/welfare-benefits

They might be able to signpost you to a local housing charity.

Hi @xoxo you can receive support from a social worker as an adult too - I've added a link that might be helpful. Social care and support guide - NHS

Some great options put forward by @Kimmy87 there for the housing, thank you. Organisations like shelter may be able to support, or at the very least offer some advice and point you in the right direction.

Please keep us updated with how you're getting on and please keep in touch if you need to talk at all. The community has some really wonderful people. 🙂

    Best wishes,

It might be worth keeping in mind there are organisations that can offer grants to support with housing costs (when you get to that point). Turn2us Grants Search might be helpful in showing some charities that fit your requirements. You just need to add some information and search.
