hello im paul456, I was just looking for a bit of advice as I’m extremely anxious about all this talk in the news about scrapping lcwra and making pip stricter .

I was awarded low rate mobility for 6 years nearly 4 years ago after another breakdown. I have been on medication for 25 years for depression and severe anxiety. I also have sleep apnea, asthma, hypothyroidism and ibs when I originally got awarded I got 10 points for mobility. I didn’t really know how it all worked but because I was getting lcwra then financially I had enough to get by. Since the award I’ve finally been diagnosed with autism which took 3 years they were awful I do not recommend Leicester autism trust. My ibs is worse and I now have arthritis in my neck. My weight has gained massively and mobility physically is more difficult. What’s really concerns me is this talk to scrap lcwra because without it would I be forced to work? I certainly couldn’t financially support myself without it, It starting to consume my every waking thoughts and that never turns out well. On top of everything my mum is terminal and my sister who helps me has said she is leaving the area once my mum passes so everything is just really on top emotionally and physically so just wondering what other people think will happen when they scrap lcwra . I thought labour were more compassionate than the others? Boy did I get that wrong!

Hi @Paul456 According to media (I watched Question Time last nite) they are going to raise UC and lower LCWRA so they are closer together, supposedly because they think people are claiming to be ill when they aren't for extra cash! There is a government green paper coming out with proposals. They also talk about extra support for ill people to get into work. However, support costs money, so I don't see how any of this will work. You will keep PIP regardless of working or not. I think they are planning to review descriptors for PIP, but again this will be difficult and some way off.

I know it's hard not to worry, but it is out of our control, which is why it's stressful to think about.

It sounds like you have a lot on your plate. Do you have anyone to support you?
