When my Mum went from UC to State Pension, she filled in one form combined for HB & CTR (CTR she had been getting on UC).

So this was a new application for HB and her CTR was reassessed due to change in circumstances.

The best place would be to ask is your local council.

She filled in an online form (though my local council uses ancient software!) which assessed her for both HB & CTR. So it acted as a new application for HB & recalculated her previous CTR award.

Did she still have to send in all proof documents again id etc as council would have all this from ctr do you have go to council or ring them as dont know what form you would need.

Its very confusing to say the least you think it shouldnt be that hard as they have all your details from ctr just didnt want to go threw trying to do hb form as cant do them and got no help etc

The form to apply was online, filled in and submitted electronically.

They then contacted her by email (I think) stating what documents they wanted.

As it was a new hb claim /change in circumstances CTR up to date documents were needed.

So Mum logged back into her application and submitted digital copies electronically.

This is the way my local council can do it, yours might be different.

It takes a while for ESA to send your details to UC.

£393 is the Standard Allowance, so possibly at that point that was all the system was showing you as entitled to.

Were you in ESA WRAG or Support Group?

If the former when did your claim start?

@winniewoo , good question. I'll be 64 soon and unfortunately for me (and people my age) we will have to wait until we are 67 (yet another bloomin' year added on) before we can draw state pension/pension credit. However, I'll be in the same situation as you. Currently on basic universal credit and single person ILA for rent, council tax. My understanding on this is (I'm not the expert so I'm sure others will be able to guide you appropriately) you have to 1) Inform universal credit as you are approaching state pension age. Maybe tell them a month or so as you approach it as they don't just automatically transition you over. 2) This closes your UC claim (as you are no longer considered a job seeker) and also you HB/council tax is cancelled/suspended which means you have to open a new application.

Now, it may be easier than the first time and they do have your details but who knows, they very likely will want copies again but I'm sure they will tell you.

I will have to go through this myself in 2028 and who knows what the situation will be then.

Just checking you weren't in WRAG as money might not have been due.

As I said it takes a few weeks for ESA to confirm your status with UC. So the standard allowance was probably all that was/is showing up as your entitlement when you asked for an advance.

LCWRA element (the UC equivalent of ESA Support Group) usually is confirmed in time for the first payment statement.
